Gotham | 53m | 17 fl | Completed

Lamb's newest project, 17 floors, 251 units majority of which are 1 bedroom or bachelors. Walkup units on Gloucester St. Some interesting renderings showing the block built out with the new Richcraft proposal.

Cheers,
Josh

Thanks for the update..can anybody on this site warn me if 'Lamb' will be coming to City Hall to bang his fists on the table etc...I may not be liable for my actions if I'm at City Hall at the time if the "Lamb" is in the building.

I thought he found the prices in Ottawa too high for the development yield.

Good one...somehow I can't see much of a meeting of the minds between Diane Holmes and the developer Brad Lamb.

Maybe she doesn't like the taller buildings because they represent a higher density of people who won't vote for her.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brad Lamb has more connections in high places than Diane does...I can't really see this project being shot down...

"Lamb's newest project, 17 floors, 251 units majority of which are 1 bedroom or bachelors"

Why? With the demographic change that's happening in the City (Baby Boomer's retiring, Gen. X and Y replacing them in the gov't, earning higher incomes, etc...) larger 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms will be in greater demand than they are today. Sure 1 bedrooms and bachelors will always be bought by investors, so is that who Lamb is going to target? And it'll just become a glorified apartment building?

That would be nice, but let's be realistic. One bedrooms today cost more than two bedrooms did less than 5 years ago.

The risk I see into buying into a building predominantly composed of 1 bedrooms is as you said 'glorified apartment building'. Because many will be buying them to rent out.

This building will do wonders for the skyline as viewed from the south by blocking some of the much uglier brutalist apartments in the Laurier corridor.

I have to agree anything that blocks the view of those things is a bonus.

Just wait for the CCCA to speak out against this 'out-of-character, overintensification project'. Heaven forbid anything challenge the architectural excellence of Queen Elizabeth Towers. Without a doubt, they'll ask for it to be reduced to 10 or 12 stories from its not-all-that-lofty 17, then take it to the OMB when it passes council on its own merit. That's the new Ottawa tradition.

This city practically thrives on giving the OMB a hefty workload.
