Pictures taken from Cape May, NJ
From wiki "Cape May is a city at the southern tip of Cape May Peninsula in Cape May County, New Jersey, where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_May,_New_Jersey
This town was sparred the wrath of Sandy and Irene. I fear for this place, as many of the buildings are over 100 years old and they have not seen a direct hit since the 19th century. During one hurricane, the water flooded the Cape May Peninsula from bay to ocean (approx. 2 miles wide and 8 miles in length). The entire community was washed away as breakers were hitting the top of the first floor for most of the structures. If that happened again, I fear this place would be devastated. The worse possible scenario would be where a hurricane, coming from the Atlantic ocean, decides to travel up the Delaware Bay giving Cape May a direct hit of the eastern eye wall.
Now back to more happy thoughts!

Some incredible historic homes in downtown Cape May. This house is 3 blocks from the beach!!
I really liked this statue outside one of the churches. Cape May has so many churches!
Old vacated house. Imagine restoring this to its former glory
A newly renovated church
Allen African Methodist Church
Sturdy Savings Bank
Post Office
Church of the Advent. If I remember correctly, this used to be a white building, not green.
More homes in Cape May, NJ
The Cherry House. Built in 1849 by Lemuel Leaming who was a member of the Pioneer Leaming Family. He, with the help of his family, developed much of Cape May County. It was not named the Cherry House intil 1925, when a family with the last name of Cherry moved in.
Mainstay Inn, built 1872
The Abbey, 1870, Gothic Revival. This summer home was built by Pennsylvania coal baron John McCreary. "The house is mostly Gothic Revival in character, but the huge Italianate-style tower with its massive Second-Empire-style roof makes it a unique Victorian classic. The house today is a bed and breakfast inn."
I like this house, but I don't think it has any historic significance. I could be wrong
One of my favorites from the trip. This home was remodeled recently, but they sure did keep the charm!
It would be nice to sit out here after a day at the beach
Colonial Hotel. Built in 1895. From Historic Structures, "It was built in 1894-1894. It is three stories plus attic and raised basement. It has octagonal towers with tent roofs that flank the entrance. It's roof is a mansard roof with gabled dormers. The south wing of the hotel was added in 1905. "
Nice waves and other ocean photos
The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May. Completed in 1898 in a great example of Gothic Revival architecture. It cost 21,000USD to build

I love the turret and the colors of this one!
Walking-only Washington Street. This place is amazing. They should extend it a few more blocks
Out in the marsh
Homes from Dorchester, Mauricetown, and Leesburg NJ. All three of these towns are mostly fisherman villages
Lake Audrey outside of Mauricetown, NJ. The water looks blue b/c a lot of the old quarries / sand holes in SJ have blue water due to the sand. It is like a little paradise!
