It does seem a bit different from the rendering that's been running in the print ads, seen from the same angle. I'm thinking it may be an older one since the earlier renderings showed the windfarm not as tall as it appears now. There's also an indentation on the top of the southeast side that appeared in previous ones but has been excluded lately.

I've posted this version in a few threads in the past. This one is from the print ads that run most weeks in the Business Journal.

Chances are they likely added those towers to "fill in" the background a little. I would say they do not exist.

Those would be the sites to be filled by Discovery Tower's parking garage (where the DT construction trailers/parking lot currently exist) & the La Quinta hotel.

Funny that a number of the pre-existing buildings that should be in the background aren't.

Those buildings look like they're several blocks away... Would they build the parking garage for Discovery Tower that far away?

Sorry to say but don't hold your breath... The way things are now it might be wiser to build small. And that means way out. Like... past katy or something.

The economy may not be at its best right now but Houston's economy and growth prospects are better than most other places in the US. The continually lowering interest rates are great for building too, though I'm not sure how these facts will tie in the the overall lack of liquidity the economy has been suffering.

They're only two blocks behind the tower. The Parking garage on the closest and the hotel on the one behind that.

Since the weather should be cooperative this weekend, I'll be out and about doing a project roundup on a bunch of the sites outside of DT (since I saw that Complex01 was gonna tackle that). Here's a short list of the places in mind...

-Memorial Heights/Washington Ave. (Memorial Hills, Legacy at Memorial)
-TMC & Museum District (Various Sites)
-Greenway/UK (2727, West Ave., Belle Meade)
-Memorial/Town & Country (Memorial Hermann Gateway, CityCentre)
-Energy Corridor (Multiple project sites)

I'm sure I'm missing a few. Any others to pitch?

They usually build a building's parking garage attached to the building itself or somehow physically connected to the building it serves.

Take the on-hold proposal of 6 Houston Center. It has its own parking garage attached to it on the same block. Is there a skybridge/tunnel/peoplemover connecting Discovery Tower with its parking garage 2 blocks away?

This arrangement seems odd to me but then again that's just me...

But it seems like there aren't any new proposals anymore.

There are a lot of buildings without a corresponding garage that they themselves develop. There is a decent number of surface lots in the area and they may in fact just want to let a private developer build a garage separate from their own construction plans.

Discovery Tower's garage wouldn't be 2 blocks away. It would be across the street on the Walker/Crawford/Rusk/La Branch Block. That's where the construction trailers and a lot of the smaller equipment for the office building site is at the moment.

As for 6HC, it's not on-hold, from what I've understood. The groundbreaking has been moved to this month.
