Just looked at the Tower Cam (webcam) and the orange mobile crane on the right was fully extended out to the left. Really looked unsafe. Isn't a nice shiny new tower crane in order VERY soon ??

Kind of curious when the crane is coming? I mean it seems like they will have it up by the time its topped out haha. And also looks like they are adding rebar for the next level!

Posted some pics on the fb page today. We've moved up a floor!

I also spoke with one of the workers who said that now the hydraulic lifts were fully installed on the concrete core frames, the pace of construction will increase to around 2 floors/week. Same as the FMC Tower.

I'm a little worried about how the ITC will look when the convention comes around next year. In a perfect world, the outside would complete in time, but that's clearly not going to be the case here. Assuming that they care about the appearance of the tower/skyline when the convention comes, what do you think they'll do about it? Speed up construction?

Also, sorry if this has already been discussed, I'm new here.

Well if 2 floors per week is to be believed, then it should be topped out corewise next November I'd think.

No reason why it needs to be completed. The in-construction progress can be as or more impressive in a tower of this scale than the finished product. And certainly more noticeable and thought-provoking/conversation starting.

Yeahhhhh but those conversations are going to turn into "Wow Philadelphia is finally getting a building over 1,000 feet... that's cute". I mean, to the average person who doesn't really look into this kind of stuff, an existing tower is far more impressive than one being built.

The average person doesn't know from 1,000 feet, "supertalls," etc. The average person will see an already impressive skyline with several new towers (and lots of other projects) under construction, and assume (correctly) that Philly is a historic, established, and successful big city in the midst of vigorous new growth and development.

There is no way they'll speed up construction for aesthetic reasons. Besides, showing the construction isn't such a bad thing, IMO.

The great part about a city like Philadelphia is that you don't need to complete some fancy new project to prove that the city is successful. It's already in the big leagues...the new shiny things are just icing on the cake.

I get all of your points about how seeing the construction could be a good thing now. It'll show how much Philly is growing and all that.

At least the FMC should have a finished exterior, so there's that.

I completely agree. It takes much heart to question the stature of Philly at any level on a Philly discussion board.

Philly's a great city; but lets not get carried away. That project on Spring garden and the Parkway is a prime example. (very underwhelming).
