Even if Jeff Bezos has known all along where he wanted to locate his second Amazon headquarters, the self-examination of the cities that were snubbed can hopefully help them learn from their short-comings and work to bring some positive changes to their communities in the future.
However, it is a little sad to see so many other cities willing to "mortgage the farm" or "sell their soul" for the chance to be the next stomping-grounds for the behemoth that is Amazon.
For many smaller cities with unique characteristics, Amazon would most certainly reshape those towns - possibly in good ways and bad ways as well.
In many other moderately sized cities, Amazon may very well overshadow other corporations who have enjoyed being the traditional corporate citizens for years in the past - maybe the competition would be good, but I am sure they would be comparing notes as to who is getting the best tax breaks.
Let’s hope Amazon "plays nicely with others" when the time comes and will be willing to share the spotlight and "Join" their new prospective communities rather than subjugate or control them - as Seattle seems to indicate.
