I see that Starfish owns the very plain building on the corner of Brunswick and now Gottingen Streets, I wonder if that is a future redevelopment site.......

Interesting contrast with a similar view from 1974:

Very cool photo! My father worked for years in that brown building under construction.

Not exactly a beehive of activity. The 5 Moes must be on holiday break.

See those random aluminum or white operable windows in the sea of black window frames in the last picture? It's REALLY hurting my feelings.

I don't think trim has been put on yet. I'm not sure if those little windows will be trimmed out in black, or if the rest of the windows will be trimmed out in silver.

This building took too long and it is ugly as hell. It really belongs on that corner now with the ugly condo and hotel buildings.

I'm reserving judgement on aesthetics until it's closer to completion.

That said, I think there's a real risk here: window dressings. The upper floors are apparently going to be apartments. I don't know about anyone else, but the first thing I'd want to do moving in there is cover up those floor-to-ceiling windows. If the developer doesn't provide the window dressings it's going to end up looking like a dogs breakfast when tenants put up their own.

Lol. I just went and looked the the floor plans. If they stay as-is, and the cladding stays as rendered, the penthouse on the Citadel side has its washroom right in the point, with floor-to-ceiling glass facing the hill...

I like the design. It is unique. Catches your eye. Dont shoot your load too soon bastard.
Who cares about curtains?

Huh? I'm not judging the design harshly yet. I'm holding off until completion and I have hope for it.

But curtains do matter. Those floor-to-ceiling clear glass windows look great right now, but you can see right in to every unit from street level. They are the most transparent windows I have ever seen on a building. No resident is going to want that, so they're going to have curtains. Given the amount of glass, it's probably a couple of thousand dollars per unit to do curtains correctly. If the developer provides them and they look consistent, things will probably be okay. If people provide their own, it's going to look like a mess.

I'm still holding out hope for the Trinity site having something special. Its As of Right, correct? They could do a flatiron-esque building to address the corner and this whole area would be reconnected to the North End (minus the interchange #halifaxproblems).
