Some construction projects in Edmonton

A panorama of Edmonton's skyline from the north side. The crane visible on the far right of the photo is where MacLaren Tower is being built. This gives you an idea of how large Edmonton's urban footprint is.

MacEwan University SAMU under construction. This building expansion will take over what used to be green space between the existing building and the sidewalk, making the area feel more urban.

The bad side of Stantec Tower under construction, looking better.

The new cladding on the Stanley Milner Library renovation in downtown appears to be brown. I am having an impossible time trying to like this building so far.

Core samples and preparations are underway for construction of Emerald Tower.

Building renovation underway in the Brewery District, a power centre near downtown. Notice the awful blank wall of the back side of the power centre that faces a bike path.

The former light industrial area beside the Brewery District has had all streets and sidewalks redone last summer. The area no longer feels like an industrial area.

This building is under construction just across the street from the Brewery District.

Building under construction, as mentioned above. Note that the square shaped building takes up almost an entire block.

Looking south down 124th street you see MacLaren Tower under construction in the distance.

Getting closer makes it easy to see that MacLaren will demand attention when complete.

There are still some vacant lots to fill up but looks a 1000 times better than it looked 18 years ago.

Good to see they're putting up some towers that poke up above the erstwhile uniform skyline. Nice job!

Lots of changes are taking place in Edmonton's skyline now that the municipal airport has been removed. Towers being proposed and under construction now are at least twice the height of the buildings nearby.

I love seeing Edmonton battle Calgary for skyline supremacy of Alberta.

I agree that the library renovation looks like it could be an eyesore at this point.
