Lovely houses and colours. Very nice area to live in. I suppose it will be a very expensive area. Beautiful Fall colours. Thanks for your shots.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

It's certainly not what people expect from NYC, especially the Bronx, but it's always fun to find these hidden gems in cities. Beautiful neighbourhoods, thanks!

When people think of the Bronx, they're really only imagining the Central Bronx. The far West Bronx and East Bronx are both totally different.

The West Bronx, as shown, is an odd mix of single family homes in wooded neighborhoods alternating with large highrise clusters. It's typically rather wealthy.

The East Bronx tends to be much denser, but mostly lowrise rowhouses and apartment buildings, and more middle class and Catholic white ethnic (the West Bronx neighborhoods shown here in the pics have a heavy Jewish population).

The Central Bronx has the stereotypical super-dense, mostly Hispanic, working class and low income neighborhoods. Most of the Bronx looks like this (midrise tenements everywhere, with some highrise clusters), but there are significant outliers.

Prices, for NYC, are moderate for the apartment highrises, and rather high for the single family homes (though everything's cheap compared to Manhattan).

Safety is a non-issue. Riverdale is as safe as any hoity-toity suburb, and is nowhere near any high crime areas.

Besides the Jewish population, Riverdale is probably best known for its United Nations and consulate/UN mission populations. For whatever reason, this is kind of the NYC version of Embassy Row, with lots of foreign consulate residences and the like.

The Russians, in particular, have a huge complex for their UN Mission Office and Consulate Office (the offices themselves are all on the East Side of Manhattan, around the UN, but for some reason, the govt.-owned official residences and apartment buildings for the staff are all here, and this is true for many other nations).

Yeah, every city has that area that looks like it doesn't belong. Thanks for the tour.
