**Jakmel, Ayiti**...**Jacmel, Haiti**

Pics from my recent trip to visit family and relive some moments from past trips I used to take as a child. Included in my one-week stay was: my cousin's birth, the commencement of carnival festivities, and a visit to Bassin Bleu. All-in-all I can't wait to get back to this amazing and alluring region of Haiti.

Some chillaxin' Haitian tunes...

Wow! It's nice to see Haiti moving toward more tourism these days. Luck Mervil the Montreal artist in your video is also working on some interesting ideas for rebuilding villages in the country with housing from used shipping containers.

Great thread. Doesn't look nearly as bad as I was expecting.

Yeah definitely love those swimming holes. Wish I could be in that water today. Loved the thread, did you notice that guy had dirty fingers when he was touching the baby? Maybe he had just eaten and hadn't washed his hands yet

And I thought I was the only Haitian around here.

Great photos. I will have to visit the country of my heritage in the near future.

Thanks...I think this is why I made this thread, to show the Haiti that the media never shows.

Nice pictures! It's great to see a Caribbean place on here. I've heard of Jacmel, because some volunteer organizations from Delaware helped rebuild in that area after the earthquake.

Here's what I know about Haiti: poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, there are people who actually have to eat cakes made of dirt, wracked by political instability and corruption, decimated in an earthquake. Considering all that, I clicked into this thread expecting a horror show. But surprise -- Jacmel looks really nice! So thanks for teaching me a lesson about having preconceived notions.
