Considering all the broohaha, I'm a little disappointed at the lack of photo saturation relating to the construction of this thing. I was expecting our wonderful CP photographers to snap it from every frickin' angle by now. In the words of Stephanie Tanner...how rude!

^^right now its actually kind of tricky to get a good shot of it. The best view comes when riding the train over the bridge.

^^Oh yeah? I tried last week and couldn't really find a useful angle with my cheap point-and shoot, bu maybe now that the bridge is pushing out onto the construction platform... Someone like Surreal, Ramsay, Bigtime or Witty, with a camera and the actual skills to use it should be out there.

Well, just as many thought, the peace bridge is starting to get that "defy gravity" look to it. I love this thing, It has no supports so it looks like it will just bend in half when the temporary bridge is removed...... certainly another winner for calatrava.

i would imagine there is a possibility of a final coat of paint too; doesn't make a lot of sense to ship it from spain with the finish coat on, especially since the final assembly happens here...

They're going to have to paint the bridge at least once. I still think that's the main reason for the tent. If it just for welding, I don't think the tent would need to be so long.

Here's a photo that I took tonight.

Great photo....starting to come together really nicely. I wonder if the white portion of the bridge is still a go, or if it's all red now? I definitely hope so, I thought that was one of the nicer elements of the bridge.

Oh wow I thought this bridge was just a pipe dream. It's great to see it's actually getting built.

Can't wait to see a photo of this thing set against the river/skyline to get a proper sense of scale and impact. It's gonna be a beaut.

This thing is gonna be HUGE. If only half is done so far... wow. I see it every day and it's sick just how awesome this bridge is.

I know that this is a bit OBE, but the picture is cool nonetheless and it confirms that the bridge was shipped to T Bay and then trucked here.

I too can confirm the truckinesss of the transportation, as I ran into (nearly) two more bridge segments turning left from 9th ave sw to 6th st northbound this morning at 4:30 a.m.

I even took crappy cell phone video!

Where is the video? just kidding.

I still cant imagine that bridge being self supporting. It looks SO heavy. It looks like it will just fold in half once theey take the temp bridge away. What a great design. Cant wait to cross this thing.

Don't forget they are adding probably thousands of pounds worth of concrete for the decking ... Let's hope fancy-pants Calatrava's engineering math is right!
