Dominican Republic starts going 'green'

Link to Article in spanish:http://listindiario.com/app/article.aspx?id=16130

Soon 2 high rise projects will begin construction in Santo Domingo and Juan Dolio, both which are 'green' buildings. Both are being developed by Rodriguez Sandoval (who's also developed Malecon Center (past tallest in Santo Domingo and DR) and Torre Caney (new tallest once construction is complete in Late 2007- Early 2008)

Aquabella Juan Dolio 25 floors- Will be tallest in Juan Dolio and in the DR outside of Santo Domingo

Anacaona 27 Santo Domingo 62 Floors- Will be the tallest in Santo Domingo and DR

No renderings have been officially released, but in a video from Rodrigo Sandoval's site describing past, present, and future projects there was an initial rendering shown.

Possibly the first Green Building(s) in the Caribbean

This is great news. Dominican Republic demonstrates that even emerging markets can also build green and help aid the fight against Global Warming.

Yeah, it's one of the first few along with some other 'green' projects in two other places in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico and Curacao).

Actually there are many Caribbean islands going green, not only DR, PR and Curacao. Many existing hotels on the islands are going green as well.

Nevertheless this is good news for DR.
