DENVER | 1800 Larimer | 344 FT / 105 M | 22 FLOORS

Back in November 2007, Denver-based Westfield Development announced 1800 Larimer, a 22-story, 500,000 SF office tower planned for Larimer Street between 18th and 19th Streets in Central Downtown. Since then, the building has commenced constrution, with the official groundbreaking ceremony occurring on May 7, 2008. The initial plot where the building will sit had contained a smaller building which had to be demolished. Shortly afterwards the plot was cleared and excavation began for the 5-story underground parking garage. Xcel Energy has announed it will lease 350,000 feet of the building for its new headquarters in Denver, which helped push 1800 Larimer to commence construction.

Lastly, a promotional video from 1800Larimer.com showing 1800 Larimer and its building goals:

So I found another rendering of 1800 Larimer once it is completed downtown. This one was from an older post on denver-cityscape.com:

There hasn't been much change in recent activity at the site; the huge hole that is needed for the 5-story underground parking garage and foundation will take at least a few more months to get built. If I can get some photos in the next few days, I will show you what I mean.

New foundation pic

Well, it's been more than "a few days" for showing what's going on in the 1800 hole, but here's what I mean! Thanks Okayyou, for the foundation pic. It would appear that the shoring walls and shell are complete for the pit, and now they are digging caissons for the central elevator and stairs core. Next up, the outer supports and caissons, and an f-load of concrete for the first basement garage floor!

Wow. That concrete shoring wall went up fast. This garage may be done by spring at this rate.

Different angle, same story. Literally, and figuratively. The elevator core is still about 2 stories above ground, and the last floor of the parking garage looks to be covered real soon. Thanks to Navyweaxguy, who shoots more pics of Denver than I do (and he doesn't even live here! )

Yep. And I hope it will help that block considering how dead the area was before this tower started going up. There will be another couple thousand people working in that district everyday now, so I'm sure it will liven up the area.

I agree chex. The floor cross-section shows the unique design for this tower's ventilation system. What's more, it makes each floor-to-ceiling plate on this tower very large; 16 feet per floor! 344 feet is decent for a 22-story tower.
