Thanks for the photos, I really like the finished product of that building.

Sorry, I just finally got a great look at it after a weekend in Seattle near the new Amazon and Gates Foundation offices. Compared to when I first went to Seattle in 2006 things have really changed, but as cool as this is for Portland that's just something that makes Portland.

Nope, there is still a bit of exterior work and it looks like a lot of interior work to be done too.

When are they going to finish the exterior of the building -- surely they're going to connect the graduation cap to the rest of the building more elegantly, right?

I agree... I don't like how it is presently attached...visually it looks unfinished too me. When I lived in Portland and the Paramount Hotel was built I complained to the owners regarding the large openings around the roof...some had screens (iron work) shielding the installed roof top air conditioners(?)...some did not. It look unbalanced and unfinished too me. Management agreed and stated that the others would be covered to compliment the total look. I don't think they ever followed through..

that building turned out much better than I was even expecting. Got to see the landscaping around the building a couple days ago and was really impressed with it overall. I also like how this building looks in the skyline, it definitely stands out in a more unique way.

Yes, that is the idea. Curious to see just how high they go.

I walked passed the building yesterday and it had a sign indicating the building would open to the public on June 1.

I'm glad this project is finally wrapping up, but I'm not a fan of how much of the block ended up walled off like this:

Welcome to post-Oklahoma City federal building design. All new federal building have the "wall".

I thought they did that because the building was already built on a podium? Am I wrong?

I don't remember the old building being walled off like that. Was it?

No, because it was built before the OKC bombing. After that, new federal buildings have a perimeter designed to prevent cars from getting too close to the base of the building.
