Looks like the Calgary Tower has been relegated by TELUS Sky to eighth place in Calgary's tallest list.

So cool. Frustrating, as a Torontonian, to realise that office towers like the Bow, 707 Fifth SW, and especially this one can be inspired, instead of Bay-Adelaide Centre rectangles.

Yes, Toronto boggles the mind when one sees so many completely soul-devoid new office towers there. Glass boxes... so much inspiration there.

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you Telus Sky! As seen from the NW 6th floor balcony of the Lyric building of Jayman's Westman Village.

If you squint through the smog you can see it blocking the view of Suncor.

..except the Bow has very little contribution to street level interaction. Same with 707 Fifth. Telus Sky, I think, will contribute a lot better.

All I see is miles upon miles of suburban junk in the foreground and some very small silhouettes of what might be a skyline if it wasn't 50km away.

Why are you so angry that you have to exaggerate so much? There is no point within Calgary's city limits that is 50km away from the downtown core - prove me wrong if you wish.

What I don't get is that if all this suburban junk and Stampitectureville bother you so much, then what haven't you moved elsewhere to a place that you won't be so easily offended by?
