Any recent updates yet? 10 days since the previous post, an unusual wait in a skyscraper boom like this.

The steel beams are where the Austin City Limits theater will be located.

Austonian's 10th floor transition? was predicted to have a setback but things went by like a tiger!

So, it's 50/50 time if there's going to be a setback!

The transition floor will have more of a notch, than a setback. Well, it'll be a setback, but it'll look like a notch since the next floor above will overhang it. The section of the building to the right in that image above is the podium level. This is where the Austin City Limits music studios will be located. And I'm not sure what they're planning for that deck area between the tower and the ACL theatre section. It has trees up there, so I'm assuming it'll be some kind of amenity deck.

Thanks for the answer Kevin, like always. Looks to me like an amenity deck as well.

IIRC, I believe there will be 2 different pools on that deck, 1 private for the condo owners and another shared with the hotel.

Does anyone know the difference in size from the current ACL studios on the UT campus VS. the new one at the W?

Construction Progress

Does anybody know why the construction progress at the site has been real slow lately? Also, does anybody have information on the fpw? Maybe about 0.2 fpw? (FPW stands for floor per week).

I'm not sure about the square footage, but the original studios on the UT Campus had a capacity of around 500 people. The new studios in downtown will seat 2,200. But I think there was an article recently that said that the square footage for the studios would increase.

They're on the 4th floor, really just now starting on the tower portion.

Since the tower is almost a block long, they'll probably do each floor in sections, like they did for the Four Seasons.

I noticed some really cool looking metal i-beam work today when I drove by on the way to work. I will definitely get out there this evening and take some photos.

Photos from the W yesterday, showing metal-work going in for the ACL venue.

I noticed all these angled pieces when I drove by yesterday morning. I didn't know what it was for at the time, but when I went back to look at it after work it's obvious they're for seating.

There appears to be a lower seating area (concrete) and a larger upper seating area formed by the metal beams.

Still working on the 4th floor on the tower section:

Nice photos, priller. Those slanted bars are definitely for seats.

As far as construction goes, it's interesting actually seeing the ACL venue space take shape. Watching most high rises go up is pretty boring really with floor after floor of repetitious shapes. It's neat knowing someone will be sitting there one day listening to some local or even international band play live.
