If they're going to make such a tall building they should at least consider raising the "wow factor" on it. This looks like something a 3 year old made with building blocks.
THAT Sounds familiar! It takes, at least, that long for MY hometown to fight over any proposed development before it occurs..... 9 months is like yesterday to me.
This proposal isn't stupid at all. The tower has some issues that obviously need to be resolved before anything happens, but if China thinks they can do it in three or nine months, more power to them! There's no justification for people saying what "should be" and what "shouldn't be". The fact that this building integrates urban necessities within its structure gives it more purpose than a typical office high rise.
I think the Sky City is a joke in comparison. I didn't think much of the Sears Tower until I saw it in person. The way it looms over the city is quite impressive. It's asymmetric design and it's placement in the skyline allows it a lot of different looks.
This building isn't the prettiest, well actually it's very boring, and somewhat ugly, but I am interested in its success. This could change the way highrises are built, and could lower the costs down significantly. If that was the case maybe we could see more highrises built here in North America at a cheaper cost.
