Strong population growth, a booming economy, rising home values and falling apartment vacancy rates will be enough to get more multi residential proposals and starts in 2018. Vacancy rates are currently at 2.4% and falling quickly, people need places to live now!

Hopefully because of the low unemployment rate some new apartment construction will happen soon.

I would think so too, but also because of fairly strong population growth and a hot real estate market! A vacancy rate down near 2%, and the new CIP for DT should also get more proposals out!

A 3 Storey project that was supposed to go ahead on Wyandotte in Riverside, the lot isn’t back up for sale, so I’m guessing that fell through.

Positive news for new DT residential projects coming up because of the recently implemented DT CIP, over 125 units planned! It’s a start at least!
Nice to finally see more interest in building new residential, especially along Ouellette! I’m very curious to see what is being planned!

That article is just a rehash of old news we talked about around a month ago. The interesting part is that they hinted at more to come. The sad part is downtown is still as busted and dumpy as it ever was.

Yes, more to come, like how he said there are additional projects in the pipeline, above and beyond those already announced, and they are mainly located along the Ouellette and Pelissier corridors! So that’s new to me!

I agree, DT really needs to be cleaned up, but it’s still much better now than it was ten or even 15 years ago!

This project will set precedent for future projects. If it's successful we can expect other developers to follow downtown. I'm sure there are a lot of developers constantly monitoring Windsor.

I just wish this was a larger project. 24 units are tiny compared to the apartments in that area. Then again it's the largest project in 30 years.

I know, they should have proposed something at least 5 floors for that prominent site on Ouellette! Oh well, baby steps, I guess!

Thank god this last two blocks of Ouellette is finally being redone! It has the potential to turn out pretty nice, and hopefully it does! God knows it needs it, and that section is just the worst! Pure dreck!
