I believe it's for just an additional southbound lane between Airport Trail and Beddington? It'll become apparent in pretty short order.

That'll help ease traffic on 64th towards Deerfoot by giving northbound and Beddington traffic another option. Then the spillover from McKnight to northbound Deerfoot will have better flow to avoid the McKnight/64/Deerfoot pinch point.

They'll want to
a) put lights at 11 St and Aero Gate
b) reconfigure the 11 St / 64 Ave for 2 northbound thru lanes. It's as simple as deleting the concrete island there

Thanks for the link.
Looks like nothing is planned to address the comical NB Deerfoot to WB Glenmore movement through the automall

AB Trans did a study for the rebuild of Deerfoot/Glenmore way back in 2006, seen here. It's pretty much what's in place at Stoney NE/Deerfoot with elements of Stoney NW/16 Ave and Henday/Gateway Blvd. It'd no doubt be Alberta's most expensive interchange ever. The recently completed 2020 Deerfoot study recommended a slightly cheaper but almost identical rebuild as the 2006 study. We've therefore known the best way to fix the interchange for 2 decades but have simply chosen to not do it. ROW will also have to be acquired from adjacent businesses for the flyovers. Either way, we're moving in the right direction because the currently planned and funded twinning of the Deerfoot bridge over Glenmore is a required stage 1 for the ultimate buildout and will significantly help southbound traffic which grinds to a halt on Calf Robe every afternoon.

Additional lane northbound between McKnight and 64 Ave is now open, though it suffers from the same fate as southbound between Beddington and McKnight where mergers feel the need to force their way over in the first 100 meters nuking traffic, despite their lane now continuing on for another full kilometer.

Today I saw a lot of heavy machinery and trucks on the currently blocked off stretch of northbound 11 St NE, including an excavator digging at the embankment at the eastern end of the Beddington Trial overpass.

Looks like they're making decent progress hacking away at the side of the cliff to connect 11 St NE to northbound Deerfoot. Still no shovels in the ground for the additional southbound lane between Airport Trail and Beddington, so my guess is next summer for the whole project.

Appears to me that the contractor is doing one job at a time. They did the work at 64th. Then moved up to NB Beddington. Will probably tackle the SB after NB is done. McNight will probably be after that.

Well yes but the additional southbound lane is part of the same project as the 11 St connection, so they will presumably start on it before they're all done with 11 St.

Global News is reporting that Maria Loop’s 33rd and 34th avenues will be turned into one way streets for a few block stretch due to construction in the area, but doesn’t explain what that construction is! And apparently the city is going to evaluate the success of the one ways once this construction is over at the end of the year. So is there actually construction or is this just an exercise in social manipulation on the part of city planners?

This was distributed to nearby residences and buisnesses:

We will be installing concrete bases and electrical conduits for new pedestrian signal lights, upgrading hydrant and water infrastructure, and doing road reconstruction.
This is from the project website:

They've obliterated the median on Deerfoot between Beddington and Airport Trail, so the widening will be median-side. Incredibly frustrating that they're spending money on this widening which is incredibly useless when adding a lane both ways median-side between McKnight and 64th would have tangible impact.

The 4th inside lane (starting at Airport/96 Ave) is awarded through until between McKnight and 32 Ave, ultimately ending near 17 Ave. Beddington Interchange is slated to open July 31 24, and the additional lane (through to S of McKnight) as well as McKnight interchange modifications Oct 1 24.

I just came here to post the same thing.
Putting the additional lanes in the wide median of north Deerfoot makes sense - no?
