Few more pictures that may be kind of redundant.

According to this source: Scheduled to break ground Fall of 2018.

Isn't this proposal in the same location as that other 70-something story hotel and condo tower?

As for the palm trees-they're ok, heck I remember there were some steel palm trees on the northeast corner of Wadsworth Blvd and 88th Ave at a strip center in Westminster back when I lived in Arvada.
HAHA, I remember those palm trees (I grew up in that area)...and they were fake trees.

Not a skyscraper but it's a real thing that the 2nd location for Birdcall will be opening in November at the new DUS Whole Foods.

This is what a skyscraper in Denver should look like. It's design is crystalline and dramatic. It relates to the majestic Rocky Mountains and the minerals found in Colorado. It is like the Hamilton wing of the art museum standing on it's edge. I would love it if more Denver architects were more daring like this.

Yes!! I just went this past weekend. I love chicken sandwiches, so this was perfect. They have a cool ordering system, and you can customize your sandwich with so many options. Cheap beer too. Super friendly staff.

10/10 would recommend.

It looks like a skinnier, angrier, pointier 1144. Not a bad thing at all.

I would love to consider the possibilities of a new skyscraper being built (650 17th). But what are the true odds that it will get out of the ground? It all comes down to capitalization and lining up tenants so I'm going to guess the odds are 15% that it moves forward, due to a number of variables that I'm totally unaware of. Does anyone feel more confident?

If they go public with a hotel partner and private equity backing I'd be a bit more confident than 15%.

I go with 0% chance. Sorry, but when you do a half-ass rendering with palm trees, and arbitrary buildings in downtown that don't exist, it reflects on just how serious this proposal is. Maybe if we had a developer with a solid resume of pulling things together, along with a realistic rendering, and a path forward, then I might be excited. However, I just can't take this proposal seriously.

Meh... I liked the older render better. Either way, the chances of this getting built aren't good.

Speaking of, what's the status of the Makovsky block? That one actually has legitimate partners and realistic plans, but even something like that takes 5+ years to go from proposal to reality.

While I'm sure the project has hurdles, unrealistic renderings are common, whether it's a marketing image that stretches everything vertically or a more realistic rendering of the building that's wildly inaccurate for the neighboring buildings.

If you had design review in Denver, with realistic renderings required, that would be nice at this stage. But you'd be disappointed with the added process, cost, and uncertainties, even before any actual design changes if any.
