The fire proofed floors look like they are constructed from concrete.

Just asking and thining and thinking...

What is the diameter of the spire and will it have any floors? I remembered from a eariler post everyone was talking about that. Just asking so I can either ask or not ask my next question.

I am re-posting this diagram here in order to convey something that many folks may not understand. The wind is by far the greatest force that this tower has to withstand. All tall buildings like Tower One are called cantilever structures because they are like a beam sticking out into open space, but it is not gravity that they have to overcome, it is the wind.

If you remember from my previous posts this tower is designed to withstand a hurricane. Think 150mph winds.
I was trying to figure out how much pressure a 150mph wind would exert on a flat surface and I found this formula on ehow. (wind velocity˄2) * 0.0027= psf

Assuming that's correct (150˄2) * 0.0027= 60.75psf

Is this correct?

My fancy CAD software gave me the same answer. That's slightly over 2 tons of preasure on each 5 by 13' 4" curtain wall panel.

I'm pritty sure that 150mph is maximum wind gust, not sustained wind speed.

Pardon my ignorance on this subject but i was watching the Discovery channel and they were saying that a huge tusnami might hit NYC, now with that in mind can the finished Tower 1v2 Survive that wave if it were to hit it?

I would advise against getting your science from Discovery channel. That whole Canary Islands landslip causing a giant tsunami thing is based on absurd assumptions and very little reality.

As for whether the Freedom Tower would survive.....well I can't really answer that question but I guess I could depend on how well the debris from other buildings further to it's south form a breakwater. But it's a safe bet that if you had to be in lower Manhattan during a tsunami the Freedom Tower is where your odds of survival would be greatest.

The Megatsunami episode aired on the Discovery channel is based on the worst case scenario.

There are other potential sources of tsunami that worry me more.

dude anything can happen, even a slight earthquake in the ocean, can cause a tsunami, and thats tsunami can go anywhere in the world, i would think that engineers of newer buildings and skyscrapers should start proofing our buildings and bring them up to a certain code to withstand certain forces of nature, considering the world we live in today, is a dangerous one, and mother nature seems to throw anything at anywhere

But my main question is when tower 1 being finished and with all the reinforced steel rebar and super strong concrete and super strong base steel, what is the maxiumum punishment the tower can take in terms of Hurricane, Major tusnami like in the discovery channel, Tornado, Earth Quake and Etc. I know this tower is the strongest building being built right now in the enire world but what is its maxiumm thresh hold what is its maximum power it could with stand? Since it willl be the strongest tower on the planet.

I'm no architect, but if someone here wants me to help out with visuals, I will gladly take their money.
