Hello everyone! I noticed that there isn't a thread to show off cities art scenes, so in that instance, I made one. Feel free to share your cities various art projects or artsy neighbourhoods! as usual please share websites/give credit to the author of the original photos (and yourself of course)

To start off, Montreal:

Love this idea! And I remember being very fond of the street art I saw in Montreal. We have a ton in my area of Queens (Astoria/Long Island City) that I'll go out and shoot this weekend. The famous Five Pointz was torn down to make way for condos but a new area has popped up around Welling Court. You can take walking tours on the weekend. Here's the website: http://adhocart.org/site/category/welling-court/
They have a really great Instagram feed as well: https://www.instagram.com/wellingcou...project/?hl=en
A smart developer even built a new condo mid-rise called Graffiti House to capitalize on the area: http://www.graffitihouse.nyc

Ah yeah, Five Pointz is a place I wish I would've seen, too bad it got torn down . On the flipside for Wellington Court, 145 artworks in a small area that's something on my bucket list for sure.

that's welling court in queens. one of several major nyc graffiti areas. some others are drake street in hunts point in the bronx, along with the rest of hunts point for old school graffiti going back to the 70s-80s if you poke around enough, bushwhack and the burg for brooklyn, east harlem and les for manhattan and stapleton neighborhood for staten island.

The murals and graffiti in Philly are just wonderful. I really need to visit and explore Philly whenever I get the chance.

Montreal update from Muralfest 2017, I took these yesterday. Some are almost done or haven't started yet.

Ron English

Ricardo Cavolo

Buff Monster from last year

Mad C

Part of rue Roy, they're adding some street furniture. This pic is also as Montreal as you can get, art on buildings, bikes everywhere, detour signs, closed off roads.

Tons more pics at https://the514lifeblog.wordpress.com/

I have found that street art can be as artistic, or more artistic, than what you can find in modern art museums. Love it, love it!

Las Vegas, with their obsession with walls, must have hundreds of miles of walls in the city, all crying out for some street art. And given we don't even have an art museum here yet, it would bring art out to the neighborhoods.

But, underneath the neon/glitter of this sin-less city, lies a very conservative populace. The street art will eventually come, but it will be awhile before they stop painting it over when it pops up, here and there. Las Vegas spends $30 million a year erasing graffiti, and along with it, some outstanding art work.

Las Vegas wants to present a welcoming image to visitors, and any graffiti that pops up on the freeway walls, entering this city from the south or north, gets erased ASAP. Very sad indeed!

More art from Montreal from last Saturday. Many more murals were made in the past week, not only from mural fest, but from parties and events, so I'll have to explore for them.
