Related Companies’ next-to-open Hudson Yards building at 530 West 30th Street is nearly finished from the outside but details remain scarce. The building, designed by Ismael Leyva tops out at 32-floors and rises at the foot of the master plan’s open plaza. Andre Kikoski is handling the interiors and per their page the 325,000-square-foot building will offer just 125 residences. Amenities will include lounges, galleries, entertainment venues and athletic facilities. Kikoski also mentions that nearly a dozen works of art have been commissioned for the building and the lobby will be defined by foundry-cast panels of molten bronze poured over crumpled linen. Something tells us these units will either be condos or very expensive rentals…
With so much construction activity happening in the Hudson Yards neighborhood, it’s easy to overlook some of the "smaller" elements taking place in the area. At 530 West 30th Street, directly south of HY’s eastern super-block, a ground-up 33-story tower developed by Related Companies is nearing completion. Since construction began in late 2015, details on the tower’s makeup remained scarce to the public and only rudimentary paperwork filed with the city gave us hints of the building to come. A recent press release reveals that the tower has been christened One Hudson Yards and leasing on its 175 high-end rental units will begin this summer.
