Transformer station buildings

On http://www.trafoturm.eu/ you can see a lot of interesting pictures of transformer station buildings for lines with voltages up to 30 kV.

A cool thing about Toronto is that it disguises many transformer substations as houses and buildings throughout the city.

This is the transformer building for Winston-Salem's streetcar system, built in 1889. The photographs are old. This building was restored a few years ago.

I think most cities did the same thing Toronto did. The transformer buildings in Thunder Bay's north end are all designed to look like simple, 1920s era red brick houses. The downtown ones are designed to look like small business blocks.

There is a very impressive substation in downtown Winnipeg:

There is an art deco substation on Main St. and Georgia in Vancouver's Chinatown.
