Will Canada get a 400 meter skyscraper in the near future?

Best hopes are probably for Toronto.

Exactly ... still waiting on a 300 metre tower. Of note: not one of these proposals is backed by a major developer in either condo or office world.

Until I see shovels in the ground I can't be too excited about them.

3 years ago so many were hopeless here that wed ever get a supertall proposal. We didn't get those 300m+ proposals going through approvals process or approved till downtown became dotted with new 200m+ towers. Wait till a couple of these 300m+ towers get built and then the 400m proposal(s) will come.

No market to justify the floor heights needed to reach that height. A 50 to 100 metre tall flagpole spire would probably break the bank too.

Huh? As much as I'm not personally a fan of their product, Pinnacle is massive. Certainly could go toe to to financially with Daniels or Lanterra, and has the financial wherewithal to fund a 300M building. Whether their product makes sense to build that high is another question, but the limiting factor facing Pinnacle is not their size or experience.

Well we've been waiting 12 years now since our first 300m+ were proposed during this building cycle. We're probably 4-5 years off actually having one completed so I don't think a 400m tower is in the works for a very long time.

Yup, I nominate Laval to be the first place to get a 400 m.

Honestly, we need at least 4 to 5 - 300 meters plus towers before we even get close to getting a 400 meters plus proposal. Its possible we will be there in about 10 to 15 years if EVERYTHING on the table right now for 300 meters plus gets built.
