My question exactly. It doesn't look as if there will be any "cage-like" structure around the top of the structure.

Remarkable aerial shot! On very clear days like that, the view from Mount Wilson is incredible. I dont have a camera that can do it justice unfortunately

Still annoyed that they removed that beautiful metal work ornamentation around the top windows. The floor level have may have been lost, but the second floor was well-preserved by the landlord before it sold to Jordan brand. It looks nice only because it’s occupied and clean. But it’s almost a repeat of those 60s-90s modernist makeovers that trash DTLA historic buildings reminiscent of how Peirera “updated” the LA Times building with his black modernist addition. They should have kept the metalwork.

Eh yeah was it still there tho? I see you said it was partially removed.

Honestly this is the rare case where the modern reno looks way better imo the much larger windows are just baller and more impressive

What’s left of it was still there. Now, it just looks like a shell.

I was up there on Thursday, there was a bit of haze but it was still incredible. We're headed up to Mt. Lowe on Monday, I'm hoping for good visibility. Here's the view from Mt. Lowe last Thanksgiving:

Bill-- nice photo. My aunt and uncle lived in Glendale, at the base of the Verdugo Hills. I hiked up behind their house to maybe an elevation of 2,000 feet one December day after it rained. I had a view of downtown LA, the Channel islands, Catalina, and Orange County. It's a very scenic location when the air quality is good.

This view is very similar to an historic evening photograph taken circa (1900) from Echo Mountain. It was very undeveloped looking at the time as evidenced by the street lighted grid. Considering that the valley (area within the viewfinder) had an approximate population of 150,000 to 200,000 people it was still impressive. Today, that area may now have a population of perhaps up to 4,500,000.

Thanks, I've hiked up in the Verdugos as well, the view is quite amazing on a clear day.

It's in the same area as Echo Mountain, but about 2000 feet higher.

What ever happened to the "Avenue of Angels" project? it seemingly fell off the radar and rather quickly. Metropolis is near complete and Francisco street still sucks. I still think its a worthwhile idea, especially now that we see what's coming in that gap between Metropolis and LA live.

https://la.curbed.com/2012/4/17/1037...-park-and-fidi

I personally liked it because it realigned Francisco street all the way through and added some much needed trees and 2 decent sized "Parks" with actual grass lol.

Also, this is from way back in June, they didn't get much attention on here or urbanize. Just infill at best. something to expect being sooo close to the 10. I think its funny how we've gotten kinda spoiled lately hahaha. Go back 10 years and we would all be excited and talking about these endlessly.

Monolithic bland boxes, but will look interesting when traveling on the 10.

^ Those were proposed back in June, so would assume they will take their 1-2 years to get through the entitlement process until we hear more about them. Personally I think it's a good project, despite being that close to the freeway, and the views from those north facing balconies on the residential tower will be some of the best views of downtown.
