Something needs to be done about seniors driving, of course not all seniors are bad drivers but too many do drive dangerously. I don't think its unreasonable to implement mandatory retesting for people over 80.

I think you are right. In several European countries, including Germany and France, once a driver's licence is issued, it is for life. There is no periodic retesting, as in BC.

The result: aged drivers, motor skills often impaired, reflexes often diminished, continuing to drive unchecked, causing frequent, serious MVAs.
