As many of you in our St. John's section already know, Jeddy1989 thought it was ridiculous that St. John's didn't have its own LGBT magazine and was relying on mainland publications to offer a glimpse of everything going on here for LGBT residents and tourists to the city.

So he enlisted my help and now we're ready to launch.

The 'Out'port Official Launch Event Page

If you're in St. John's on May 16, come on down. We already have a bunch of family members and close friends coming - but it's a public event too. We can't wait to show off the magazine.

In case you don't have Facebook:

Date: May 16, 2013
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Hava Java, 258 Water Street

Cheers!

The launch was a great success - and the online version of our first edition is up!

She likes us. We hung out with her (out of drag) at Club V and the Grapevine yesterday. And we get to interview her today! I love it...

The Duke and Club Velvet

I was there in St. John's in June and July and I found The Duke of Duckworth to be a great gay friendly bar and warm up place with friends before going next door to Club Velvet

That's a good place, other popular pre club places for gay people would be Club V on george street (the cover there gets you in to velvet as well, and they usually have drink specials) or The Grapevive which is just below Velvet and is a chill urban bar with no cover and a nice atmosphere.

Club V reminds me of the Zone after-hours back in the 90s - a slim majority of the clientele is straight, but the music is pretty fabulous and you see lots of guys dancing together.

Grapevine is awesome. Best bar in the city for a gay date, easily.

Yellowbelly is getting really gay too. We were there last night and I think Ayreonaut was one of the only straight guys in the place.

I think, whatever the genetic component to being gay, we have an unusually high presence of it here. There are very few places you can go where you don't feel surrounded by gay people downtown - except, perhaps, Dusk and Sirens.

Hey, does New Brunswick have any gay clubs outside Moncton?
Also, is there one in PEI?

As far as I can tell, these are the gay bars in Atlantic Canada:

Velvet Club & Lounge, St. John's
Reflections Caberet, Halifax
Menz, Halifax
Triangles, Moncton

Edit: just found Boom! nightclub in Fredericton
