Sailing in Hamilton

Anyone here involved with sailing? Do you have a recommendation for a sailing club with a friendly atmosphere?

My wife is an avid sailor and would like to crew mid-week evenings during the season. As a newcomer to Hamilton she'd like to connect with sailing people who might need a crew member.

Thanks for any help.

This is something I have always wanted to get involved with. Maybe this summer... There is a bar in the Hamilton club right by the water. Many regulars hang out there, worthwhile visiting to strike up conversation I thought. Advertisements of local boats for sale are inside too. I may solicit myself on their bulletin board lol. Sailing classes are available down there as well.

Thanks, Pearlstreet. Are you referring to The Hamilton Yacht Club? I think there are 3 or 4 clubs in a row down there.

Royal Hamilton Yacht Club (est. 1888) hosts all of the major regattas at this end of the lake and features a robust social calendar.

RHYC's western neighbour, Leander Boat Club (est. 1877) is a rowing club.

A little further west the Macassa Bay Yacht Club (est. 1962) is a pretty convivial club but more laid-back than RHYC.

RHYC, Hamilton Bay Sailing Club and Burlington Sailing & Boating Club all offer sailing lessons and Leander offers rowing instruction.

The 'Royal Hamilton Yaught Club', you can just walk in. Many older folks shooting the breeze... I haven't seen any others inside, but there are a few with patios and social areas.
