Wow... that is an incredible and shocking shot... hard to believe it was only as far back as the ‘60s. Nice post!

A different lake angle on reddit:

Looks super slim, almost like a step-down Tribune Tower addition from this angle.

Been staring at this for 18 months. From nearby apartments the materials...are...ill just stop.

Honestly the shape and slenderness really stand out and make it extra impressive. And as a neighbor, cant wait for that park.

Also when people talk about excessive ornamentation look no further than batman building. It would never get through a community meeting in the US:

North Pier at the bottom should help give a bit of scale.

Lol a building doesn’t get more provincial than this. it’s made of beige precast panels. PRO-VIN-CIAL.

Well, at least its tall and has an attractive, fairly narrow profile. It will look good... at night.

You know I've never looked at it from that perspective. It was a pioneer of sorts. Unfortunately an ugly one, but, never the less, significant in Chicago's skyline shift.

Just goes to show: no matter the location, make it count. Because in fifty years god knows whats gonna be around it.

If a provincial Chicago beige pre-cast building gets good returns maybe a developer will bet on a limestone tower.

Or they might just build another precast tower.

The margins would be fatter.
