Speaking of he spire, I'm wondering why it is only 100 ft. in height. I would think that a spire (being a finishing point on a design) could at least be one fourth the height of the structure and be very nicely proportioned. This formula would have made the spire 250 ft. to bring the total height to 1,250 ft. From previous designs and city approval the building could have been 1,200 ft. What difference does it make--none really. Just silly and childish bragging rites. "Mine is bigger than yours" type thing. Just look at China and the Middle east to verify this point. But, fact remains Los Angeles has had the tallest building West of Chicago since 1973, and there are still plans for the Transbay Terminal tower in San Francisco to be very tall.
