That pedestrian activity puts 98% of American cities to shame.

good stuff! you really did the city justice. the new confluence quarter is looking hot.

you covered some of my old grounds (les charpennes). not sure if you've been there before but it looks like you didn't get too far into villeurbanne - the gratte-ciels area is worth checking out if/when you go back.

A charming, underrated city. Now I want to see Le Havre and the pied-noir capital that is Marseilles!

Some nice shots of my former home. I really enjoyed my 6 month stay there.

Was this one taken near the funicular to St-Just? If so that was my "hood".

My place was near the church in the upper-left corner

On some very rare occasions I could see the Mont Blanc and the Alps in the distance. (no more than 5 of 6 days a year and I managed to take a pic)

No, it is Sainte-Foy, a western suburb, this is on the hills but there are 3 km between Sainte-Foy and Saint Just.
I used a bus from Perrache to go here.

Unfortunately the western side of Lyon (west of the Saone river) is poorly served by mass transit, there are buses but it is not as convenient as subway or tram.
The western side is also hilly, so it is not so easy to walk here.

Great set, thanks for sharing - we need more Europe pic threads here. French cities in particular are so visually pleasing!
