Smile Madrid: Spring is arriving to the city

After a mild, only we had two weeks of cold, and extremely dry Winter, Spring is arriving to Madrid.

Today we´ve reached a highest temperature of 61ºF in the afternoon, and this morning, the lowest was 43ºF.

We have clear skies again, a sunny and windy day, so I decided to go out for a walk around my neighbourhood.

I hope you enjoy.

A mimosa in a house in Conde de Orgaz neighbourhood.

As you can see in the next picture, the ground is completely dry, and some pine trees are dead.

In the background, Sierra de Guadarrama, with some snow patches in its southern face looking to Madrid.

Cuatro Torres, the newest skyscrapers in Madrid.

The following pictures are from La Quinta de los Molinos park. As every year, all the almond trees blossom by Spring. It´s a pretty park, and in this season it´s worth to visit it.

There´re two windmills in the park, and they still work. This park is a very good place to take schoolchild to visit it.

A lenticular cloud due to the wind.

Mimosas.

A pink almond tree flowering.

Pope John Paul II´s park in the way back to home.

Thanks for watching...

Greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Your trees are way ahead of ours here in Colorado. If you had played 'guess that city' I would have no idea these shots were from Madrid.

Our winter in Washington DC has also been very mild and today it got up to 75 F. Our trees appear to be on the same schedule as Colorado, though. That is to say, still dormant.

Spain looks beautiful.

Great pics Danny, keep 'em coming! Madrid's "Four Towers" are my favorite group of new skyscrapers built in Europe over the past decade. Torre Espacio and Torre de Cristal in particular.

Sadly I've only seen Madrid from the air (changed planes there in 2009). Looks like a beautiful place.

More pictures please!

Our trees in the Bay Area are starting to blossom as well, after a very dry winter. Sounds like we had the same weather this year. Nice pictures! I'll echo everyone else and say, Cuatro Torres excluded, I never would have known it was Madrid. Thanks!

No, fern, I´m not rich. David Beckham lived in La Moraleja, an exclusive area in the northeastern of Madrid.

Last days we´re reaching highest temperatures around 72ºF (22ºC) in Madrid, but we continue with this exasperating drought. Today we expect a highest of 77ºF (25ºC), and the lowest are around 45ºF (7ºC). Spring has definitely arrived to Madrid.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I´m glad to see you´ve liked the pictures. I hope to show you more pictures from Madrid soon.

Greetings from Madrid.

beautiful set, danny. it's easy to see why spain is so desirable a travel destination. the lenticular cloud photo is my favorite, and the four towers are great too.

Madrid look great in spring, it was almost spring in February last year when I visited, at least it felt so when arriving from cold Sweden.
