Another for the metro area. Assuming this would make it 3? Gatineau was at zero before this if i'm not mistaken

^ Someone didn't do a great job writing that story.

None in St. John's yet but there was a murder suicide on Newfoundland's west coast today.

Is this one because of undesirables, scum, or "those people"?

Unkown. One was a shooting in the city's west end and the other was a beating in the normally quiet North Kildonan.

I understand who you were referring to, but I would like to hope that the people on this forum have the knowledge and class to understand that referring to an entire group of people in such a way is completely ignorant.

Last year Winnipeg surpassed its previous record by 9 homicides and was 25 % higher than any rate Winnipeg has ever seen. It was not and it still isn't a long shot to say that it was a one year thing.

Winnipeg however has had and will probably - for the short term anyways - have a violent crime problem.

No homicides, but 2 men were shot at a Young Jeezy hip hop concert in London:

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/04/06...-in-london-ont

Interestingly enough, someone else was shot at another Young Jeezy show in Toronto a few days earlier and was listed in serious condition. The "next stop, London, Ontario" tweet seems a little prophetic:

Looks like this year will be even worst than last year. We had falling rates for years before. I wonder what's happening?

Yeah, thugs and gang losers. While I commend the WPS for cracking down on organized crime and tackling organizations like the Hell`s Angels, they really opened a can of worms when they took them down. It has now opened up the city for these thug gangs to victimize citizens. We need a crackdown of all these thug gangs.

Yeah, as opposed to the Hells Angels, which apparently aren't a thug gang!

The old Hells Angels club house in my neighbourhood, which was a block away from the school, is going to become a community centre. Residents actually oppose the move because "community centres are where drug addicts go". They want the Hells Angels back.

There is a big difference between the Hell`s Angels and other thug gangs. The Hell`s and Bandido`s for example, are considered organized crime. They are going to always lie low. They are smart enough to ensure that they do not bring unwanted attention to themselves. While they can be more calculating in their approach, it is not their members who are randomly beating people for initiation or robbery. They employ the thug gangs to do their dirty work. Now, you look at Winnipeg and all of these thug gangs- the Indian Posse, Native Syndicate, Mad Cowz- they don`t care if they hurt someone for the hell of it. They fight for territory and use innocents as part of their initiations often. It is not unheard of for one of these gangs to have a random robbery or beating as part of their initiations. Big difference between the two types of gangs!
