Come cleaning time, they should come out better.
I'll take anything that'll break the seemingly predominantly blue-tinted reflective curtain wall thematic.

It's just incredible to me how this whole new neighborhood is building built on a platform above an active rail yard. When Phase 2 is eventually completed, the yard will be completely hidden from view and quickly forgotten by all those who live and work above it.

True, it's nuts. In the future the whole thing will be like a glass forest on the river, it will look impressive.

Crazy to think this will be nearly as tall as 3WTC. Although 30 HY will obviously dwarf this, it'll be a monster in its own right.

If this were going up away from taller towers, it would have more hype.

yes . . and it's incredible to me, that with all the money,
great engineering, planning, hype, square footage, etc . .
and juxtaposed with the Hudson River, Highline, and Empire State . .
that what New York is getting, . .
(aside from the greatness of 10 & 30 HY, and the culture shed) . .
is such a vast mass of wimpy, commonplace HY architecture . .

no derring-do here . . and yet 35 HY, with its unremarkable skin . .
does have better proportions than most of the other HY boxes . .

I think that 35 HY façade is very nice. The limestone makes it work well and the base has something interesting going on with that curving part.

You don't know how much money that had to design this complex. Perhaps more elaborate designs would have pushed the whole thing into a "no can do" territory.

I think it's fine, and I love the base. I think it will play better once the second phase is built.

That's just it, though. A lot of folks outside of this circle who are also quite attuned to this entire project somehow overlook--perhaps amidst all that's going on now--one major consideration.

That there *is* a phase two--one that promises to be almost as soaring as this part--will contextualize everyting that as of now appears (subjectively) out of place.

^ It will be hard to imagine those railyards are there, much like it is around Park Avenue today.
