Those are some gorgeous photos. I especially like the 3rd from the bottom shot. The closeup of the upper floors is always a shot I never shy away from! You can see it in my John Hancock Center and Sears Tower pictures from this past Spring and Summer. The crown of the skyscraper is always a place where the eye is drawn too so to emphasize that through a photograph is a great idea. Many people wonder what's on the roof of these towers and shots like this give them something to talk about. Plus, it sometimes helps to put the tower into perspective in its surrounding environment. Great work again!!

I will never get over the amount of ugly communication equipment at/near the top. It is completely polluting the clean art deco aesthetic.

I agree, Zerton. I can only hope that most of the communications equipment will be moved to 1WTC, 4 Times Square, or somewhere eventually. My greatest dream is that some day the horribly out of place antennae will be moved.

It won't. Besides being used as a primary and backup antenna, it also provides income to its owners.

Why are there so many boarded up windows between the 79th and 83rd floors?

What happened to the offices?

i am surprised the landmarks board would allow the one antenna to be fastened to the right side of the building like that.

the building is undergoing a huge renovation to make it more "green" and energy efficient. the blocked out windows could be part of the renovation. not sure.

Short of taking down the spire, they're pretty much free to put up antennas as needed. Meanwhile, over at the City Planning Commision, they're chopping the head off the Tower Verre. Nice.

Original supertalls...

There is a lot of working currently going on inside the tower.

It’s funny to see a picture of the East side without the FDR. Great shot!

Makes me miss New York. I've always liked the water towers on top of the the NYC buildings. Chicago has a bunch, but not in the hundreds to thousands that NYC does.

I actually think the antenna gives the building a nice pinnacle. I know its not original, but maybe if they put a more aesthetically pleasing antenna on top it would look better.
