I believe that photo is in Moscow. The filename says Moscow, and The ATX said so as well. Also, that building in the middle has a banner with Cyrillic on it.

Oh, well, it looks like Burj Khalifa from behind?

Also: observational skills on the Cyrillic clearly are woefully under adequate.

X-posting paul78701's link from the update thread. That's an impressive list of potential developers. This project and the Brackenridge Tract are going to be fun to watch.

2 million square feet is massive. suppose a developer uses all the footage and covers the entire lot with no setbacks, how tall would that building rise?

Just for reference, the Empire State Building has 2.248 million sq ft of floor space and is 102 stories, 1250 ft to the roof. Depending on the foot print, we could see, potentially, a 1000 ft tower there, but I'm betting, though not wanting, another slimmer version of the Google tower in the 500 ft range. I'm just going with history here. I'd like to see an office building with 60 plus floors breaking 700 ft, but I'm expecting yet another 400 ft hotel / condo combo. No matter, the proposal(s) won't be made public until December or later, and they will probably be grandeur
at first, then scaled back with any ground breaking early 2020s. Case in point, though on a larger scale, Green Water doesn't exactly look like the proposal, and took years to get off the ground. This is my prediction after 30 plus years of observing downtown evolve. However, I hope I'm wrong like I was regarding Texas vs Kansas last Saturday.

Well, the site is the same size as the one the Fairmont Hotel is on, and that building is 1.4 million square feet. So this would be roughly 600,000 square feet bigger, or 30 percent larger. Assuming the new courthouse block building were arranged the same way with the same size podium and tower as the Fairmont, which it won't, 30 percent taller would make it around 593 feet. But I'm sure whatever tower(s) they do plan would be much slimmer than the Fairmont is.

The Austonian is 854,000 square feet.

Every time I walk by this lot I have dreams of someone developing it as well as the terrible parking garage next door plus the (kind of cool kind of not) funky red 1980's office building on the other side. I picture a sort of Rockefeller plaza light for these three plots with lots of retail at the base. Either way I'm excited this will be developed into something fairly large. A slender tall tower here will balance nicely with The Independent and The Austonian on either side. I'm curious how long Ballet Austin holds out.

It sounds like Travis County is close to selling the site to a developer. From the ABJ:

I imagine that the Governor withholding funds for Austin and Travis County based on our sanctuary city position will motivate many agencies and entities that are holding valuable real estate to sell them sooner rather than later. Usually these agencies move at a glacial pace. But there is a lot of money wrapped up in that piece of land. I know this was already in the works before the whole sanctuary city/Hernandez spat with the Gov, but I'm glad they are moving forward with the sale. I was never in favor of a courthouse there.

BTW, I'm not trying to start a political debate - I don't really care which side people are on; you do you - I'm just making a general cause and effect observation which is probably off base anyway.

Here it is. A new tallest? It's referred to as "308 Guadalupe".

I was wondering that too. But STG has their role listed as "Planning + Design" as opposed to "Study" or something indicating a vision. There is no word about who the client is.

That is a massive building. Looks like it will be a hotel & condo development. I assume a very high end hotel.
