I'll be in DC from the 20th to 22nd of September. I'll see if I can snap some project pics. So much going on in the metro area, love all of the activity.

Union Market

We went over to the opening of La Cosecha Latin market on Saturday afternoon to listen to the Ozomatli concert, which was fantastic. I didn't get a chance to check out the inside of the market but there is an incredible amount of development around Union Market right now. It seems like every week there is something new opening in the area.

Here's a photo of Ozomatli performing!

Is that a public school? If so, screw them lol My middle school was our old highschool that kept adding on corridors. It was made of centerblocks with some paint thrown on.

"This spring, UrbanTurf reported on plans to redevelop the Howard University-owned site between Georgia Avenue and 8th Street NW between V and W Streets, currently home to the historic Bond Bread Factory and Washington Railway & Electric Company buildings. Now, the university is seeking zoning approval which would enable that redevelopment to move forward..."

"Big residential plans are on the boards for one of Georgetown's most recognizable blocks.

As Georgetown institution W. T. Weaver and Sons celebrates its 130th year in business, the company is exploring development plans on its Prospect Street parking lot.

Dubbed Weaver's Row, W. T. Weaver and Sons and developer McCaffery Interests are seeking conceptual design review to deliver a five-story plus-penthouse mixed-use project at 3220 Prospect Street NW. The development would deliver 45 one to two bedroom rental units above 4,500 square feet of commercial space. UrbanTurf first reported about the project back in May. .."

This maybe premature, but EB5 capital has added a webcam for Storey Park. There has been some prep working going on the past week or so.
https://app.oxblue.com/open/EB5Capital/Dashboard

This big mixed-use apartment/hotel complex in NoMa has been a long delayed project so it is nice to see some signs of movement.

Eisenhower Memorial

(Not strictly OT but I'll just leave this here.)
Hardly ever get to the Mall area but it was nice to see the project underway after all the "controversy"; it's quite monumental.

^ It looks very much like an official district, if you ask me.
Formal gray / white stone and glass, the very standard in that matter. Nothing allowed to stand out.
The 2 characters in DC actually speak even much more than this picture to me.
These buildings must be filled with federal officials or something.
The trick is you need to act understated when you're an official, so taxpayers don't feel like you'd be stealing their money.

The funny thing in the picture is that Trump hot-dog truck.
Did it break down on that expressway? Bwaha!

Six new, non-Amazon towers in Crystal City will really change the way its skyline looks from DC. Among the proposals is a 31-story residential tower replacing the 11-story office building at 223 23rd St. S. The six towers total 2.6 million square feet -- about 2MSF of residential plus one office tower and ground-floor retail.

Strangely, these were announced last week, but the press releases didn't include renderings, nor were renderings posted at ArlCo's website. The Business Journal just posted some at its website today.

Which part of this is offensive? It is certainly not worse than what we are observing on a daily basis.

Rhode Island Ave, NE

I participated in the annual Bike & Brew event this past Saturday and there is an incredible amount of development along the Red Line, north of Union Station. I took these photos of a development under construction across from the Rhode Island Ave metro station. More than 1,500 residential units and an Alamo Drafthouse are planned.

Here is some more information about this project.
