Slight decrease in building height, to 105.1 meters.

However, the building is disappointing. Sorta makes me think of La Galleria on Besserer.

Interesting mixture of Modern and Post-Modern. I don't hate it.

Well said. I don't love it, but don't hate it either.

Too bad they couldn't have kept the spire from their original design...

This proposal was way better than the current one.

Actually, this'd look really nice downtown, in the CBD!

Yeah, the original design would have been great with a cluster of towers like the redeveloped Tunney's, Carling at Preston (though a taller version might be warranted), the Escarpment District, Hull or Bayview (assuming it will be another downtown).

That said, I didn't like it along Parkdale. One tower with a spire in a line of flat topped towers did not fit in. For this location, I prefer the current Brigile proposal.

I thought the old design was a joke. I looked at the layouts of the upper floors and the units were just stuffed in to conform to that awkward shape which resulted in a lot of useless space where the acute angles are. Terrible architecture. A spire, unless it has a function or revenue (was it supposed to be a cellphone tower?) would be a high-maintenance item that could saddle the condo corporation in the future.

End of the day, it was a joke. Nothing but a ploy to increase the zoning for maximum profitability at resale.

Two of those -- side by side and of differing heights -- located in the CBD would work wonders for our handicapped skyline!

Agreed! Loved the shape, mixture of brick/windows and the slanted roof/spire of the original proposal.. Something like this in Downtown, Little Italy or Rideau St would've done wonders for the sea of concrete square and flat rooftop buildings...

Not a big fan of the newer proposal... For me, it looks like a mix of The Galleria & OttawaU's 90U student residences

If they ever get to ripping down L'Esplanade Laurier, then two of these babies would fit in very nicely!

I re-upped the imagery, which seems to go missing all too often.

Meet the Condo: 121 Parkdale in Ottawa
New highrise condo coming to Hintonburg.

By: Ilana Reimer, Metro
Published on Wed Oct 04 2017

Project overview

Next month, Brigil will begin work on 121 Parkdale, a new 32-storey condominium advertising unobstructed views of many of Ottawa’s major landmarks. Construction is expected to take two years. The building itself will have a unique design, with a brick facade on the east and south sides, and primarily glass on the west and north sides.

Housing amenities

The condo units will have high-level finishes, and there will be over 6,500 square feet of common areas, including a pool, exterior lounge, gym, multipurpose room and a rooftop terrace. The ground floor includes a café with an outdoor terrace. The condo will also have a secured entrance, storage lockers and bicycle storage.

Location and transit

The condo will be in an ideal location, only five minutes from downtown, and near a future Light Rail transit stop. Residents will have access to a number of transportation networks, including pedestrian and bicycle paths, interprovincial bridges, bus routes, the O-Train and Highway 417.

In the neighbourhood

Located right in Hintonburg, 121 Parkdale is just minutes from the trendy Westboro neighbourhood, and not far from the Ottawa River. There are a number of bike paths, parks and green spaces in the area, providing close proximity to both nature and regular city conveniences. From here, residents will be just seconds away from a wide variety of restaurants, bars, cafés, art galleries and shops.
