Approved by the OMB... Not sure if there was a settlement involved

And the blank wall continues...
Is it because they are assuming another tower will be built beside this one so there is no point in placing windows on that side?

At least there is a pattern on this wall though.

Yes..the closer you build to the property line, the fewer openings/windows you are allowed to have. These towers are being built right on the property line, so the next tower will be built right against it or very close to it.

Call me crazy but I kinda like these. They're different at least (visually, not vertically).

Since I'm already talking crazy, why couldn't they remove 7 stories from one building and add them to the other? Then you'd have one 20 storey and one 34 storey. Same number of total floors, same number of units. Same load on the infrastructure. BUT a much needed break from the god awful 27 storey wall of monotony. Do I have to think of everything?

Why must we continue to have crowded towers of the same height? No wonder people feel small and crowded; everything is built to the property line and is the same height.

I agree it would be better, but Rideau Street heights are under the Beechwood-Parliament viewplane, which defines the heights allowed.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I looked at the render again... We will have 7 towers next to each other ALL the same height (2 pheonix, 4 clardige plaza's and the Quality Inn just on the other side)...

A 20 story tower next to the street and a 34 story tower behind it would be great for several reason:
1) Breaks the 27 story ceiling and brings variety to the skyline
2) Doesn't feel as much of a "wall" or canyon effect.. More like good urban planning with a "cascading" effect with height trickling down as you get closer to the street
3) The top 14 floors of the second tower would have views and wouldn't be blocked by the first tower next to the street! That means more desirable units and better chance of sales/profit for the developer, no?

All in all I think it would make A LOT of sense... Now, how can we make the city and planning committee realise this? Good urban planning needs to start NOW!

Well then make them both shorter. Anything is better than the endless sea of 27 storeys. Looks like someone took a giant cake leveler to that part of town.

OMG... finally something nicer (or at least more interesting) than the Claridge crap that's lining the street. I agree with the comments about the blank wall and the lack of height variation, but at least it's slightly closer to the street, giving the canyon a bit of texture.

Could just be me, but I'm actually not a fan of this styling at all. It looks like an attempt at Montreal's Habitat 67. Does anybody know or can estimate when they plan to break ground? I think this project is still around 8 years away from completion, as the Ottawa's condo market is absolutely saturated and there are tons of unsold properties and new constructions right now.

They actually managed to cram 5 units per floor in the lower levels. The larger unit kitchen’s will have no daylight what so ever. One must go through the kitchen to get to the only bathroom. 1970's lay-out.

There are 4 units per floor in upper floors…and 2 bedrooms of which one is VERY VERY small. Still enclosed kitchens and having to go through the kitchen to get to one of the bathrooms.

A lot of wasted space in common areas.

Not impressed with lay-outs!
