Red face TORONTO | Casa III | 180M | 55 FLOORS

Address: 50 Charles Street E (Casa III)
Developer: Cresford Developments
Architect: architectsAlliance

This is Cresford's Casa III development. It's basically a carbon copy of Casa II right next door (which is under construction). It's kind of sad that much thought wasn't put into creating something "different". I guess it makes more sense financially to just copy and paste after the huge success of Casa and Casa II. I would have loved to see some retail as well, which is lacking in all the developments along Charles St. E.

Height has not been confirmed yet though there is talk this could be 56 stories, which is the height of Casa II next door.

I would hope to see some retail added the podium. With so many units in Casa I, II, and III there will be a lot of people living in a very small area. It could definitely do with some shops, bars and restaurants.

Cloning CASA I to make CASA II was a bit lazy, but this is just ridiculous.

Very nice. It almost has a '60s brutalist air about it (see nearby Marriott in rendering).

But fortunately not as ugly as those concrete monstrosities.

I agree they (Manulife, Sheraton, Marriott, Sutton Place, et al) won't win any beauty contests, but I actually like and appreciate them for their no-nonsense, imposing qualities. Pure, impressive brutes; no bullshit.

I like those you listed in size and shape. But hate the look of their concrete face.

Awesome, didn't know they had actually started foundation work here. Nice surprise.

Should be rising shortly then.

That double height floor (floor 11 ?) bothers me. Throws off the harmony of the design.

aA seems to do minimalist podiums well (unlike monstrosities such as the podium at Emerald Park)

The render shows a double height floor there, that should match the height of the office portion. It wont look jarring when it isn't all by itself. The rest rises by itself to the top, with another extra height floor at about level 37 or so.

lol @ Emerald Park, I was just thinking about the possibility of that being the "tallest" LCBO, but there must be others downtown that are much taller...
