looks like THE MET by Concord will be a mult phased project with another tower or more.

on the MET LAUNCH vid they refer to it as Phase 1 launching now >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snKhd2Dc2y8

^ That is the MultiSport Centre of Excellence

Quote:
The MultiSport Centre of Excellence will be the first of its kind in Canada, providing access to an extensive range of sports-related medical services and practitioners. The faculty will attract visitors from all over Metro Vancouver and further afield. It is an ideal location for specialty retailers catering to the sports medicine and athletic sectors.

Initially proposed in 2005, I can't remember when it started or how far they got along, but the '08 crash delayed it until it was picked up again last year.

It's supposed to tie into all the different sporting facilities in the area (8 Rinks, turf fields, etc.)

Another condo tower proposed for Metrotown. Polygon has a rezoning application for a 37-storey tower at 5856 Patterson Avenue:

Posted at the Brentwood Station Blog:

The 2nd Brentwood Mall Redevelopment open house has been announced by Shape Properties in the Burnaby Now and Burnaby NewsLeader papers. The open house regarding the massive redevelopment will take place June 27 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Brentwood Mall food court. The first open house occurred in January this year and had a large turnout from the surrounding neighbourhood. This open house is expected to be no different as locals have had some time to digest prospect of tall high-rises looming over the single-family residential neighbourhood to the immediate north of the mall.

Perhaps that is an idea to be presented. I agree, this is a biggie, especially with the other set of high-rises going up kitty-corner to it. (or are they already built?) It's been so long ...

The Affinity towers (24 and 30 floors) halfway between Brentwood and Holdom stations completed a few months ago. Occupancy is well under way, but some units remain unsold. Took a while to grow on me, but those walls of punched-concrete windows don't look too bad anymore...

Appia's Citi development completed at some point in 2011. The residential tower is 30 floors, the office is 12. Personally I think this is one of the most urban-feeling developments in the suburbs - the frontage along Rosser embarrasses many downtown buildings, and overall the design for both towers is very crisp and modern:

I'm a big fan of those buildings - especially the darker glass. Brentwood sure is growing up, isn't it?

Looks like a potential condo development on a plot of land located on the South East side of the corner of Madison & Dawson (close to the OMA buildings).

From the first renderings I saw of Citi, I had high hopes. The project is well above the standard Burnaby development, and I agree, the office building meets the street perfectly. I wish we saw more of this kind of thing in the 'burbs (and Vancouver for that matter).

Thanks for the pics, BodomReaper.

It's kind of unfortunate, too. With Citi and Madison Centre meeting the street so well on the north side of the road, there was the opportunity for a very interesting, very urban character to that stretch of Lougheed. But it's kind of ruined by the townhouses on the south side that aren't even at street level, and from the renderings it doesn't look like Solo District will help much. Too bad.

Still, always nice to celebrate the projects that got it right.

100% agree. And the fact that the developers for all the projects in the immediate area are all Bosa subsidiaries should theoretically have meant much more integrated planning for the area, but instead we're still left with a hodge-podge. Mind you, very high quality hodge-podge, but it's still a massive wasted opportunity. But hopefully the redevelopment of Brentwood Mall will be so spectacular that we forget about all of this
