Buffalo, New York: M II A II R II K & Miketoronto do the strip.

Mark and I took a nice stroll on the Elmwood Strip, just north of downtown Buffalo.

Having finally gotten to see Buffalo more often, I'm noticing the life is all north of downtown. Nice job!

Sorry that I wasn't able to make it to the tour Mike!

These photos aren't what I think of when I think Buffalo, looks more like East Portland.

^ditto. it's definitely not at all the stereotypical image of the city, and me knowing very little about buffalo am quite surprised/impressed. nice little street. sorta reminds me of NW23 in portland or perhaps whyte av in edmonton but with totally different architecture/styles (whyte av is our street to stroll...) it must be neat being able to hop over the border so easily, and having so many great cities at your fingertips - hamilton, buffalo, niagara, windsor, detroit, ann arbor, london, rochester, cleveland, ottawa.

Unfortunately Ottawa is not so close to the fingertips of those other places (I wish it were!)
But yeah, Buffalo is not bad at all. It has suffered over the years, but it's still a functioning metro of over a million. Even downtown Buffalo is not bad. It lacks the vibrancy and shopping/dining/fun options of this area, but it's very clean and safe, and there are plenty of office workers on weekdays. Of course the architecture downtown is top notch, some of the best late 19/early 20C stuff in North America.

It's mainly a local thing. You have to try some if you've never had any.

Thanks for the great pics of my neighborhood. I live near Ashland and Bidwell Parkway.
