This is a set I did today of the surrounding Fruitvale area, namely the Jingletown, Fruitvale Station and Melrose neighborhoods. On this thread, I principally focused on the residential and some industrial areas of these neighborhoods; in my subsequent thread I'll cover the commercial strips in much greater depth than I have before.
The first pic's of the South Kennedy Tract.

^To the best of my knowledge, this new development is low-income housing. However, I'm actually not entirely sure what it replaced and whether it is in fact all low income or mixed income. It looks a little too large and nice to be low income. EDIT: Yup, it is low income housing. Found a link: http://www.hcd.ca.gov/feature/JingleTown.html

^This is one of my favorite graffitti/street art walls in the entire city.
^This is the wall of the Hiero Compound, the recording studio that has jump started the careers of A LOT of Oakland rappers. It is indeed operated by Hieroglyphics themselves, an Oakland underground rap collective that made a lot of noise throughout the 90's for their unorthodox flows and funk-oriented beats. The next two pics are of the building as well.
