I thought 310 N Sangamon dropped the "going green" elements from the building a while back...

Will 310 N Sangamon completely block in the rooftop bar at the Ace Hotel? The view of downtown from the Ace is spectacular. I might have to ante up some more money and start staying at the Hoxton.

The more I look at it, the more I wish the red brick continued all the way up instead of the all glass facade.

I really like all three, but 345 Morgan is gorgeous. I love the masonry work and the arched windows.

Too bad it seems to be eliminating yet another historic victorian greystone from the area...

Are you sure? I know that the unremarkable brick structure at 12 W Maple is a goner, but is that tiny historic building just to the west of it also going to be demo'd?

My understanding is that it too will be gone.

Yeah I've been looking at it because something feels off... I think it's that the all glass facade is flush with the bricks instead of being inset slightly to align with the inset windows below. It's a small detail but it makes it feel less cohesive.

^ Totally agree. It would be 10x better if the top portion were aligned with the inset windows below.

OK, so the solution here is to flip the tower orientation so the ammenity deck is to the west (who wants to swim in the shade after noon every day?) and cantilever it or hang it off the side of the building over the top of the historic three flat. Sell that as a SFH for like $10 million.

Better act fast in any case. 16 W Maple cleared the 90 day demolition delay hold on August 20th, and if a demolition permit hasn't been issued yet, it will be issued any day.
