Matco came forth with one of the ugliest proposals ever seen, a giant institutional looking monstrosity with no balconies. It looks like the worst type of student housing with a god awful color scheme to cap things all off.

If that proposal goes off as it was presented the whole of Westbrook is likely to turn out like shit as the precedent being set for the area is setting the bar at the lowest of lows and no one is going to build something great right next door to the Matco disaster.

TBH, it looks like the city did actually go ahead and sold the chance of a great and vibrant Westbrook TOD out for "affordable" housing.

Not to editorialize or sensationalize the matter at all though

Updates to the project?

Hi -

I'm wondering if there is any more info on the project as of now? I'm actually a board member on the Rosscarrock Community Association - and it is difficult to find out any info on this project - I'm looking for info from as many sources as possible...

I'm definitely interested in development that will make a positive contribution to the community - and a major development like this is clearly a big deal.

Thanks!

K. B.

I have greater concerns with the layout of the development than the architecture. It's an average design. Much worse out there. Colours could be better but, i wouldn't describe them as awful. Interestingly, most prescribe to balconies ruining design aesthetics.
