Sorry for the low quality photo, but this is definitely topped out. The rendering makes it look like the SW corner might have more structural than the rest of the crown, but it is always hard to tell with renderings.

Topped out and no curtain wall installed yet.
This boom is much different than the last one almost a decade ago, where the glass and facades were installed at the same pace as the floors. 399 Fremont still has no glass either. I wonder why that is?

^I wonder if the port slowdown has something to do with it?

The facade panels were coming from China and were held up by the Port fiasco. I've heard that 375/399 Fremont is in the same boat (NPI).

Seemed Lumina was the same, glass wasn't being installed until the towers were almost topped out, or at least ¾ tall. And if I remember correctly, 222 2nd 2.

I remember when Millennium was being built, they had glass up and not even 10 floors high.

This week I noticed more construction (structural) occurring on the roof.

As we suspected a while back, KGO 7 just reported on its 4:00 p.m. broadcast that this year's West Coast port slowdown is, indeed, the reason why 299 and 399 Fremont (and other projects) have not installed their curtain walls on schedule. They report 399 is just now receiving glass it was supposed to have received back in January and February.

What exactly is the cause of the port slowdown, and how long is it going to last?

Interesting read.

"But even when the port situation is resolved, there will be a shortage of glass because of a global boom in high-rise construction"

If we had a halfway decent and functional federal government they would create these high paying high quality jobs here at home.

This reminds me of 1WTC, which was supposed to have American-made prismatic glass. The Port Authority loved the American-made samples, but then cheapened out and went with Chinese manufacturers. Needless to say, they completely failed shatter tests and thus failed in recreating the high quality prismatic glass that the Americans had made. Since there was no time to redo the glass, the Chinese glassmakers got paid their contract, and the Port Authority had to order an emergency order of regular glass from an Italian manufacturer.

The Port Authority not only had massive cost and time overruns, they also failed to bring us the prismatic glass that would have made 1WTC look amazing from the ground. You wont see stories like this on 20/20 because of the embarrassing implications for what was supposed to be a national treasure. The moral of the story? Don't ever trust government to solve these problems.

I saw some glass and marble (?) being installed on the south side (Folsom) of the building. Sorry I couldn't snap a pic in time.

The scaffolding is down on the low rise portion and the cladding looks to be almost done.

I'm liking the cladding on this so far. I wasn't sure from the renderings, but so far it's looking better than expected.
