As an interesting historical note, Timothy Pflueger was selected as the architect of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Building in 1923. He was also on the original Board of Trustees of what was to become SFMOMA, so his monumental structure now serves as the museum's backdrop. Pflueger designed many prominent Bay Area structures, including 450 Sutter, the Oakland Paramount, the Alameda Theatre, the Castro Theatre, I. Magnin, and numerous others.
