It would seem that the masts were actually part of the crane (you can see the crane arm sweep close to the floor under construction), back when they didn't use kangaroo jacks and hydraulic-arm pumps.

I have to say that the Crystal de la Montagne is one of the cooler buildings downtown. It's not very tall, but the styling is quite unique.

It's one of my favourite as well although I admit I'd like it better without that weird dome roof ornament which gives the building an air of kitsch. But it's still 10x better than its horrible blue neighbour across the street which I intensely despise.

That's what is so great about that picture, no Trump Tower. I think Trump is a colossal disappointment and quite ugly.

.......actually Scotia is one of my favorite buildings and what is best about that pic.

Agreed. Scotia Plaza is definitely one of the better looking skyscrapers I've seen. Arguably my favourite. I too was so disappointed with Trump. Not because of the cladding or style of the building, but because of the ridiculous spire plonked on top. In my opinion it would have looked much better without the spire.

Fortunately that same shot of Scotia Plaza can still be taken, but from the other side. You'd probably get a little of 1 King West in the shot, but I don't think I'd mind that.

One of the best buildings in the country, up there with The Bow and Royal Bank Plaza.
If I had to pick, it would be Scotia Plaza, The Bow, then Royal Bank Plaza.

I hate that bastard. Stumpy and awkward. That building reminds of someone I know who has this accuse case of Napoleon complex. The people who live on there already have a great view of the upper floors of the skyscraper across the street, soon enough theyll have equally good views of the 40 floor tower that's going up right by its side!

Scotia Plaza is my favorite building, probably in the world. At the very least its in the top 5.

The best part, the atrium (both inside and out), can't be seen in that picture.

Just to give those an idea, the stone / marble used throughout the loby / sidewalk matches the colour of the building ! (It's a bit darker).

The atrium is an impressive beast from the outside.
