Went to cityplace yesterday and was trying to picture the skywalk connection to the mall. It's obviously going to run right along the north wall of Shark Club, and currently it's just a blank wall from SC to the north outer wall of the building. So it seems the connection will come through there, which is very close to the outside wall...

Has me wondering if maybe they'll open up the windows on the NW side of cityplace to match the CV offices. There'd really be no room for anything functional if the skywalk access hall was just the size of the opening, so it seems like it'd make quite a bit of sense to just open that corner up and have a nice connecting point between Bell MTS, TNS, and cityplace. Really if they wanted to, they could connect the second floors of the arena walkway and the mall by expanding the skywalk between the two all the way across. Would certainly help with the congestion on event/gamedays at that gate.

All the glazing is up, except for the construction elevator. Looks nice!

Essentially the building is completely enclosed, except for some insulation and the exterior cladding.

I didn't snap a pic, but this complex looks quite imposing from the skywalk between the Bay and Portage Place. Fills in the skyline quite nicely from that vantage point looming over Portage Ave.

Once tower 2 tops up, we won't see any of tower 1 in this shot anymore. I wonder if they'll place a camera looking into the "square".

If it just me or does it feel like they've gone slower on tower 2 the last couple weeks? Probably just because of the cold but I'm sooo impatient and want to start seeing the glass go up on this tower.

I noticed that as well. My guess is because of the cold and possibly the different size floors as the building rises?

201 Portage is really emptying out now, that's two of their biggest tenants moving to TNS. The funny thing is that MNP hasn't even been there for all that long... they filled up a lot of the space left empty when another tenant left... Viterra (or was it Canwest?), as previously they were out in St. James near Polo Park.

Time flies - According to their website, MNP moved to 201 Portage in 2009.

^ So about eight years ago, which by Winnipeg standards is not all that long.

I wonder what enticed them to move now... moving from 1661 Portage to 201 was certainly a big move that took them to the heart of the city and helped burnish MNP's image as a big time player in accounting and consulting. But moving to TNS, just a few blocks away, doesn't seem like it would be worth the trouble at first glance... especially when they were already in a pretty modern building with a lot of amenities. I'm guessing Harvard's lease offer was just not competitive?

It all makes me wonder what Harvard's plan is... we went from a nearly full 201 Portage with the promise of a new hotel next door a few years ago, to an increasingly hollowed out building with no prospects of development on either of the two sites surrounding it.

That's at least 8 full floors available for lease now in 201 Portage. Combined with other suites it looks like there is around 140,000 sq ft of leasable space now at 201.

The floors aren't the same shape anymore. It has the curve thing happening at the SW corner. Likely why its taking a bit longer. Previously every floor was the same since they started the residential part of the tower.

Likely could also be focusing all efforts on getting Tower 1 done to start interiors.

--

FYI I'm not sure why they haven't spoke about this much, but the entire TNS development is going to be one of the most technologically advanced and accessible buildings in the country. All building systems and access needs will be app-based, so you'll get into your apartment, business, change lighting heating, everything from your phone. I believe it's the first commercial development in Canada to be meeting AAA accessibility standards, and the first to be designed with mental health effects in mind.
