^ Assuming the 961' tower rendered in the background is the Christian Science tower that's under construction?

691', and yes, that's the Christian Science tower (Four Seasons hotel and residences). Although, that height was revised to 699', and doesn't include the unoccupied mech area at the top. The true height appears to be 756' according to the FAA.

OMA to Make Boston Debut with Mixed-Use Seaport Project
Quote:
The Office for Metropolitan Architecture will make its debut in Boston with a partnership by WS Development producing a mixed-use commercial project. Sited at 88 Seaport Boulevard in the city's evolving Seaport neighbourhood, plans for the 18-storey project call for 425,000 square feet of office space, approximately 60,000 square feet of retail on the first two floors, and 5,000 square feet of civic/cultural use.

Just dawned on me, but it looks like Cambridge is set to add 3 300'+ buildings over the next few years! Compare this to the current total of....1? 0? 2? This doesn't even include the 2nd MXD 395' tower, or any of the Volpe complex. I believe all 3 are in prep phase.

I searched for all years, Cambridge only on the faa site and sorted by height. This is going to be a pretty serious visual upgrade for Kendall!

One Broadway (MIT) 300'

All 3 links listed 300' structure height on the dot. Here's one.

https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...8511418&row=11

I believe the site is going to be the right side of this shot, sourced from here:

More info on this thread:

I think this is it:

This is the shorter MXD Tower by Boston Properties. See more here:

MIT Building at 264-292 Main Street. Height 334' (or 381', or 382'?)

This one has radically different heights at different corners. I have no idea where or what the high point is. Here's the total list, shortest to tallest.

NW Corner 313'
https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...28902657&row=6

NE Corner 314'
https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...28902684&row=5

SW Corner 334'
https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...8902656&row=19

"High Point" 381'
https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...8902687&row=13

Filing a couple months earlier for 382'
https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...3543956&row=12

I believe it would be the 381' over the 382', but the only question is what actually comprises this height. So it's either 381' or 334'.

It's this thing. See this thread.

GE again postpones expected completion of new Boston HQ campus

Real Estate Editor, Boston Business Journal

GE pushes back completion date of $200M Boston headquarters campus
General Electric Co. is breaking up the development of its Boston headquarters campus into two phases, a move that will extend construction on the 2.5-acre campus until 2021 and push back the anticipated hiring of hundreds of workers.

The multinational conglomerate (NYSE: GE) had originally planned to open in two renovated former Necco candy factories and a newly constructed 12-story office in 2018; the company later pushed back the completion date of the Fort Point campus to mid-2019.

The newest construction plan involves a two-phase approach. GE plans to finish the two brick warehouses — dubbed “North Point” — as well as improvements to Boston’s Harborwalk, public dock on the Fort Point Channel and the large green bridge connecting the brick warehouses in the first half of 2019. Meanwhile, ground-up construction of a 12-story office building — dubbed “South Point” — and the creation of public open space will start in 2019 and wrap up in mid-2021 . . . .

Question: many years ago I took a photo of a round fountain in Boston, probably on the ground of Harvard University, or maybe on the ground of MIT, or maybe in front of some museum.
I'm searching on Google Map and can not find it.
If you know where it could be, please tell me.
Thanks.

I'd suggest you post that question (along with your photo) over on Archboston.

I thought you guys might appreciate this little bit of gossip. Boston is now making even more sense to me than Atlanta.

Amazon may have dropped a clue about its new headquarters

Aaron Pressman - January 11, 2018 - MSN Money http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/compa...z&ocid=U453DHP

Amazon is in talks to lease 500,000 square feet of offices in Boston’s Fort Point Channel neighborhood, a hot destination for tech companies, with an option to double the amount of space also being discussed, the Boston Globe reported Thursday. The search started before Amazon publicly disclosed its HQ2 search, the paper said.

That sounds a lot like the first stage of the plan Amazon laid out for HQ2. Though the second headquarters is ultimately projected to house 50,000 workers in a $5 billion, 8-million square foot campus by 2027, Amazon said the first phase of the project would be to open about 500,000 square feet of space in 2019 in the new city...

Nope, has nothing to do with HQ2, sorry to burst your bubble on that one. This was planned before HQ2 even started. Doesn't mean Boston won't get picked, but this is not proof of anything.

I found an interactive map called "Boston Crane Watch" here:
https://www.bizjournals.com/boston/maps/crane-watch

It looks like there's around 65 projects U/C! I had no idea there were so THIS many, although a lot of them are for smaller projects. Still, it's an unprecedented level of construction around here.

I took this picture on 6/14. Lots of cranes in Boston. From left to right:
-2 at left with core: Hub on Causeway (North Station) Residential, 496' I think.
-Lower one to right of glassy staircase: Congress Street Garage Residential Tower, looks like ~540'.
-Sticking up from fat steel box just to the right of lower one: MXD Office Tower at 145 Broadway, Cambridge. I thought it was 300' but just heard maybe 314'.
-Tall building to right: 1 Dalton, Four Seasons Hotel (bottom 20 floors) and Residential, looks like 742' but I'm holding out hope it's really 756' due to FAA documents.

I'm not sure what the crane is to the far right of the financial district (left side of the skyline), just to the right of the dark glass building with the slanted roof. It's probably around Ink Block in the South End. That area of the city and the Seaport are all hidden from view and probably booming the most of all.
